The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centrecelebrated World Habitat Day at Channi Himmat, Jammu. A seminar on the theme“Frontier Technologies as an innovative tool to transform waste to wealth” wasorganized in which large number of engineers, professionals and members of thecivil society participated.

On this occasion Er. V. N. Sharma, FIE; Former Member REC, Northern Region, Ministry ofEnvironment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India was the Chief Guestand Er. Ravi Chanyal, FIE; Chairman, IEI Jammu Centre presided over thefunction.

3 numbers technical papers on the theme were presented byEr. S. C. Thukral, FIE; Er. P. K. Nanda, MIE and Er. Anil Verma, MIE. Thespeakers dwelt at length about the present state of affairs of generation ofall types of wastes in the country and their consequences thereof. Er. AnilVerma spoke about management of E-Waste and suggested ways to convert thiswaste into wealth.

Er. V. N. Sharma, Chief Guest informed the house about thefrontier technologies for conversion of waste into wealth. Interestingly, hementioned about construction of roads from plastic waste mixed with bitumenwhich minimizes bitumen consumption and enables fruitful disposal of plasticwaste.   

Er. Vijay Sharma, MIE, Honorary Secretary of the centreconducted the proceedings of the seminar and presented vote of thanks.
